Larry Arthur Cheney, 66, of Iowa City died Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Mercy Iowa City following an extended illness.
Private family services have been held with burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Larry Cheney Memorial Fund c/o Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Box 167, Iowa City, Iowa 52244.

Larry was born January 14, 1943 in Ladora, the son of Art and Edna Wiedemeir Cheney.  In 1994, Larry was united in marriage to Nancy McConahay.

Larry recently retired from the First Student Bus Co. where he had been a mechanic.  He enjoyed camping, hunting, fireworks, and spending time with friends and family.

Larry is survived by his wife, Nancy; two sons, Eric (Sheila) Cheney and Greg (Wendy) Cheney; two stepchildren, Jim Larson and Kim Olson; three grandchildren, Shelby Cheney, Bobbie Arthur Cheney, and Pamela Grace-Eubanks; two sisters, Karen (Bill) Westerdale and Earlene (LaVerne) Jahlas; and his former spouse, Judith.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
