Ruben Montoya, 51 of Riverside, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Funeral services were Monday, January 29, 2007, at 10:00 am at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction, Iowa. Rev. Paul Appel of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church officiated. After the service there was a time for food and fellowship held at Egert Hall in St. Joseph’s Church, Columbus Junction. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Ruben’s name. Burial will be in San Antonio Del Tule, Chihuahua, Mexico. Ruben was born March 9, 1955, in San Antonio Del Tule, Chihuahua, Mexico, the son of Cristin and Hermania (Acosta) Montoya. On April 1, 1981, Ruben was united in marriage to Sheila McDonald in Lexington, Nebraska. Ruben had worked as a meat cutter at Buds Custom Meats in Riverside, Iowa. He attended the Catholic Church in Mexico.

Ruben will be dearly missed by his children, Jessica of West Liberty, Marc of Fairfield and Missy (Nicole) of Fairfield; his sister, Rafaela of Chihuahua, Mexico; his brother, Rojelo of California; his sisters, Rose Ema of Chihuahua, Mexico, Monica of San Antonio Del Tule, Chihuahua, Mexico and Marta of Chihuahua, Mexico; and many nieces and nephews.

Ruben was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 sisters, Maria-Theresa and Roberta.
