Lloyd F. Prior, 93, of Columbus Junction, Iowa, died Thursday, December 6, 2007, at the Colonial Manor Care Center in Columbus Jct.

Funeral services for Lloyd were Tuesday, December 11, 2007, at 1:30 pm at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services.   Pastor Catherine Whitlatch of the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church officiated the services. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery.  Casket bearers were Larry Prior, Roger Gipple, Lester Bausch, Steven Prior, Thomas Prior, Jenny Anderson, Kim McConahay, Sarah Davis, Deanna Bishop, Vicki Reighard, Tony Penick, Tim Penick, Michelle McLaughlin, Tim Prior, Marcus Prior, Nathan Prior and Brandon Prior.  Following the interment there was a time of refreshments and fellowship held at the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. Visitation for Lloyd was held on Monday, December 10th, from 4:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home.  A general memorial has been established at the funeral home in Lloyd’s name.

Lloyd Franklin Prior was born December 11, 1913, in Crawfordsville, Iowa, the son of Franklin E. and Alice (Leasure) Prior.  On December 31, 1935, Lloyd was united in marriage to Marjorie L. Hall at her uncle’s home in rural Louisa County, Iowa.  Lloyd was a member of the Spring Run United Methodist Church, the Cedar Crest Country Club, the Columbus Junction Jaycees and the Columbus Athletic Boosters.  He was an avid Hawkeye and Cubs fan.  He was a farmer for most of his life until 1970.  Then he was employed by the local Farm Service and the Columbus Community Schools, driving and managing busses and caring for the school grounds. Lloyd enjoyed golfing, attending most of the Columbus School sports events,  fishing and hunting, especially fox hunting and shooting the first wolf in Louisa County. 

Lloyd will be deeply missed by his sons, Harold Prior and wife, Polly of Columbus Junction, Larry Prior and wife, Judy of Columbus Junction, Marvin Prior and wife, Verlinda of Columbus City, and Michael Prior and wife, Beth of Winfield, IA; 14 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie in June 2003; an infant daughter; an infant grandson; and his brother, Maurice Prior
