Evelyn Quigley, 97, of Washington died Sunday, January 7, 2007, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2007, at Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with the Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Burial was in the Cambrian Cemetery.

Mrs. Quigley was born November 30, 1909, near Cotter, Iowa to Evan H. and Ruth (Peters) Arthur. She married Jesse D. Quigley on April 9, 1932, at Rock Island Presbyterian Church. He preceded her in death in 1973.

Mrs. Quigley graduated from Cotter High School in 1929. She was a member of the Cotter Presbyterian Church, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for nearly 50 years, and a member of the Cotter Guild. She farmed with her husband in the Cotter and Ainsworth area and also worked at the State Café, Wolf’s Greenhouse, and the United Presbyterian Home. She moved to Washington in 1974 and to the Washington Care Center in 2000.

She is survived by one son, Jack Quigley and his wife, Margaret of Washington; one grandson, and two great-grandsons.

Mrs. Quigley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers: Lee, Leonard, and Lyle; and two sisters: Gwen Jones and Leona Mae Gardner
