Elizabeth “Betty” Satern, 62, of Columbus Junction, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 24, 2008 at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services  in Columbus Junction, Iowa.  Rev. Paul Appel will officiate the services.  Visitation for Betty will be held on Sunday, March 23, from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services.  Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society in memory of Betty. Elizabeth Ann Leibfried was born December 5, 1945 in Sherburn, Minnesota, the daughter of Joseph N. and Florence M. (Studer) Leibfried.  On May 1, 1965 Betty was united in marriage to Steven A. Satern  in Spring Valley, MN.  Betty worked for Kalona Plastic retiring June 5, 2005.  She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Columbus Junction.  Betty enjoyed ceramics, sewing, gardening and traveling.                                                            

Betty will be dearly missed by her children, Shelia Jones and her husband, Brian of Columbus Junction and Daphne Buser and her husband, Jamey of Conesville; five grandchildren, Jacob Jones, Sam Jones, Steven Jones, Tiffany Buser-Ackerman and her husband, Clint and Cody Buser; three brothers,  Edward Leibfried and his wife, Barb of Racine, Minnesota,  Lloyd Liebfried and his wife, Terry and Kenneth Liebfried and his wife, Gale, both of Spring Valley, Minnesota; two sisters, Kathy Klaes of Bowie, Arizona and Cecilia McCloud and her husband, Jerry of Brownsdale, Minnesota.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Steve, three brothers, Francis, Wayne and Bobby and one sister, Bernadine Miller.
