Alice Marie Schrunk, 72, of Sioux City, Iowa, died Sunday, Feb.11, 2007, at Countryside Retirement Center following a brief illness.
Services were held Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at Christy-Smith-Larkin Northside Chapel in Sioux City with the Rev. Merrill Muller of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Graceland Park Cemetery, Sioux City, IA.

Alice Marie Nicholson was born Oct. 15, 1934, in Conesville, Iowa, the daughter of Glen and Letha Marie (Jarrard) Nicholson. She was raised in Conesville and graduated from Conesville High School in 1951. She became a very independent mother raising six children by herself. She was employed with Mid-Step Services as a caregiver at the time of her death.

She truly loved and spoiled her grandchildren. She also loved gardening, birds, bird feeders, Iowa State basketball following the career of Kirk Hinrich (her neighbor when he was growing up.) She was also an avid reader.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Pamela and Michael Rawson of Sioux City and Barbara and Michael Fuller of Pahrump, Nevada; two sons, Bill Schrunk and his special friend, Debbie Kelleher of Sioux City and Ron and Stacy Schrunk of McCook Lake, SD; eight grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Harold and Elaine Nicholson of Ainsworth, Iowa; two sisters, Fran and her husband, Jim Morrison of Columbus Junction, Iowa, and Lois Payne of Watts, OK; a son-in-law, Keith Kupec of Brookings, SD; many nieces and nephews and her life long friend, Jan Peters of Illinois.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Glenda Marie Kupec; a son, Bob Schrunk; her parents, Letha Marie and Glen Nicholson; a nephew, Jim Payne and a niece, Pammy (Nicholson) Robertson.
