Esther G. Turner, 96, of Letts died Sunday, April 15, 2007 at Unity Hospital. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Letts United Methodist Church. Rev. Kimberly Bowles will officiate. Casketbearers will be Russell Lamp, Jerry Lamp, Chet Hafner, Dana Pittman, Mike Stineman and Randy Byrne. Honorary Casketbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Following the services a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Letts United Methodist Church. A memorial has been established to the Letts United Methodist Church or the Grandview/Letts Lions Club. Sympathy notes may be left for the Turner family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Esther Harvey was born on November 7, 1910 in Muscatine County, Iowa the daughter of John and Frances Idle Harvey. On August 23, 1934 Esther was united in marriage to Herold Turner in Letts, Iowa. Esther was a member of the Letts United Methodist Church, a member of the Grandview Letts Lion Club, and a 55-year member of the Evangeline Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star of Stanwood, Iowa and a member of Letts Past Matrons. Esther was a farmer’s wife, homemaker and worked as a cook at the Letts Elementary School.

Esther will be deeply missed by her daughter, Frances Robinson and her husband, Calvin of Mechanicsville; her son, Richard Turner and his wife, Sharon of Letts; seven grandchildren, Kelly Duhrkopf, Kurt Oxley, Amanda Foust, Adam Robinson, Mike Turner, Deb Shumate and Nancy Turner; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille Bailey of Muscatine; and a brother, John Harvey of Muscatine.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Ward and Ed Harvey and a grandchild, Kristen Oxley.
