Jessie Wehmeyer, 95, of Lone Tree, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Pioneer Park in Lone Tree.

Funeral services were Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Rev. Linda Murdock Nicklin officiated. Casket Bearers were Auggie Murdock, Mathew Wanek, David Wanek, Daniel Hall, Jeffrey Randall Hall, Vincent Owen, Steven Denkmann and Ryan Horak. Burial was in the Conesville Cemetery. Visitation was held on Saturday, December 6th from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to Amenity Hospice in Jessie’s name. Sympathy notes may be left to the Wehmeyer family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Jessie Lucile Bennett was born May 5, 1913 in Lovilla, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Carrie (Amber) Bennett. On May 5, 1931 Jessie was united in marriage to August Wehmeyer in Wapello, Iowa. Jessie worked on the farm with her husband and later at the Lutheran Homes in Muscatine as the Head Cook. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Moose Lodge of Davenport, IA. Jessie loved playing the piano for her many friends and her nine grandchildren.

Jessie will be dearly missed by her daughters, Naomi Murdock and her husband, Robert of Conesville and Sharon Hall and her husband, Oran of Lone Tree; 8 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 28 great-great-grandchildren.

Jessie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, August; one grandson, Rick Murdock; one sister, Ruby; and 6 brothers, Walter Jr., Elbert, Gordon, Glenn, Robert and Harrison.
