Geraldine McGill, 93, of Decatur, Illinois, formerly of  rural Muscatine, died Monday, February 9, 2009
Services for Geraldine will be Friday, February 13, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Rev. Kimberly Bowles will officiate.  Casket bearers will be Mike McGill, Christopher King, Billy Canady, Steve Canady, Scott Canady and Mike Flanagan.  Burial will be in Indian Creek Cemetery.   Following the committal services a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Island United Methodist Church.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 12th   from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services.   In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed towards the Grandview Park Fund and the Indian Creek Cemetery in Geraldine’s name. Geraldine LaJune Kemp was born on January 18, 1916, in Letts, Iowa, the daughter of John Walter and Iva Flora (Orr) Kemp. On December 10, 1938 Geraldine was united in marriage to William Rollie Canady in Norgalles, Arizona.  He died in 1943.  She then married Earl Wayne McGill in 1946 , and he died in 1970.  Geraldine lived on the Muscatine Island for most of her married life. She was employed by Hon Industries as a line worker. Geraldine was also a published author.  She loved gardening, fishing with her grandkids, raising animals, going to auctions, collecting antique fruit jars and being with her family.   

Geraldine will be dearly missed by her children,  Wilber Canady and his wife, Bernadine of Wapello, Earl McGill, Jr. and his wife, Nancy of Letts, Denny McGill and his wife, Laurie, of Rhinelander, Wisconsin, Kenneth McGill of Decatur, Illinois, Shelby McGill King of Decatur, Illinois and her daughter-in-law, Mary Canady of Muscatine; eleven grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
