Ramiro Mendez, III, age 53, of Coralville, Iowa, died January 1, 2009, at his daughter’s home in Conesville.
Funeral services for Ramiro were Monday, January 5, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction, Iowa.  Pastor Concepción Rivera officiated. Casketbearers were Saul Briones, Gus Briones, Julio Briones, Ramiro Mendez IV, Rodrigo Mendez and Osiel Mendez. Honorary Casket Bearers were Jimbo Cuellar and Arnulfo Acosta.  Burial was in the Conesville Cemetery.  Visitation was held on Sunday, January 4th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services.  A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Ramiro’s name.  Online condolences may be left to the Mendez family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com

Ramiro Mendez was born December 10, 1955 in Cerralvo, Mexico, the son of Ramiro and Catalina (Salinas) Mendez.   Ramiro had worked for CFA Staffing at Proctor and Gamble in Iowa City as a forklift driver.  He enjoyed eating cake, drinking coffee and especially spending time with family and friends.

Ramiro will be dearly missed by his five sons, Saul Briones and his wife, Sonia of Conesville, Gus Briones and his fiancée, Liz Graber of Columbus Junction, Julio Briones and his wife, Stephanie of Columbus Junction, Ramiro Mendez IV of Houston, Texas and Rodrigo Mendez of Baytown, Texas; four daughters, Sandra Cuellar and her husband, Jimbo of Conesville, Ana and Arnulfo Acosta of Fredonia, Patricia Mott and her husband, Tony of Wichita, Kansas and Maria Mendez also of Wichita; 22 grandchildren; three brothers, Roberto Mendez and his wife, Ofelia, Ubaldino Mendez and his wife, Chela and Osiel Mendez, all of Mexico; and one sister, Almaira Gonzales and her husband, Jelin of Elsa, Texas. 

Ramiro was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Benilde Benavides.
