-George J. Angerer-

George J. Angerer, 94, of Lanette, Alabama, formerly of Wapello, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at his daughter’s home in Alabama. Funeral services were Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Mathias Catholic Church in Muscatine. Rev. Paul Appel officiated the service. Burial was in the Grandview Cemetery. Casketbearers were Kent Ruppert, Greg Angerer, Mike McCulley, Mark McCulley, Matt McCulley, Bryan Sylvester, Brent Sylvester and Andrew Sylvester. Visitation was held on Friday, June 13, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Muscatine from 4:00 -7:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. Rosary. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in memory of George. George James Angerer was born September 17, 1913 in West Liberty, Iowa, the son of George and Margaret (Brown) Angerer. On June 14, 1940 George was united in marriage to Helen Adelaide Kelso in Kahoka, Missouri. George owned and operated Angerer Refrigeration in Muscatine from 1940- 1951 then farmed in the Grandview area. George was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wapello and was past president of the Community Club in Grandview. He enjoyed reading, woodworking, learning different languages, but most of all; George dearly loved to spend time with his family.

George will be dearly missed by his children, James Angerer and his wife, Charlene of Marion, Elaine McCulley and her husband, Butch of Columbus Junction, Lois Johnson and her husband, Ronald of Lanette, Alabama, Christine Sylvester and her husband, Don of Peoria, Illinois, George Noel “Little Butch” Angerer and his wife, Gabriella of Bolivia, South America and step-son, Keith Ruppert and his wife, Signe of Prescott, Arizona; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen Adelaide on January 14, 1997, one brother, Paul Angerer and three sisters, Mary Ehlers, Lucille Hughart and Ida Angerer.
