Jerry Alden Phillips, 82, of Columbus Junction, died Sunday, October 12, 2008 at the Colonial Manor.

Funeral services for Jerry will be Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 1:00 pm at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Casket Bearers will be his grandsons, Dean Kraft, Jr, Jason Kraft, Robert Hoback, Andrew Hoback, Trenton Vrchoticky, Randy Phillips and Shawn Renken. Honorary Casket Bearers will be his granddaughters, Debra Lara, Tricia Ford, Melissa Kissell, Brandi Turner, Kelley Rosenboom, Maria Love and Katie Coil. Interment will be in the Columbus City Cemetery with a time of food and fellowship to follow at the Columbus Junction American Legion. Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 14th, from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. A memorial has been established in Jerry’s name. Jerry Alden Phillips was born September 2, 1926 in Humbolt, IA the son of Ira Ray and Josephine (Knutson) Phillips. On April 10, 1948, Jerry was united in marriage to Dorothy Ann Monson in Livermore, IA. Jerry was employed as a mechanic at Luckey International Harvester of Columbus Junction, Cambell International Harvester of Wilton, Iowa and retired from Bell Ready Mix in 1990. He was a life long mechanical enthusiast enjoying his work on tractors, motorcycles and cars. He was a WWII Veteran and a member of the Columbus Junction American Legion and the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Jerry will be dearly missed by his five children, Sandra Kraft and her husband, Dean of Letts, Dianne Renken and her husband, Daryl of Biggsville, IL, Michael Phillips and his wife, Betty of Cotter, Jeffrey Phillips and his wife, Jane of Columbus Junction, and Kathy Hoback and her husband, Charles of Conesville; fifteen grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Phillips and his wife, May of New Harmony, Indiana and one sister, Judy Vislisel and her husband, Joe of Robins, Iowa.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2006 and one brother, Richard Phillips.
