-Frances Algene Skiles-

Frances Algene Skiles, 80, a resident of Geneseo Good Samaritan Village, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2008 at the village. Funeral services celebrating her life will be 10:30 am Thursday at Vandemore Funeral Home, Ltd., Geneseo. Rev. Bill Werner will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Kewanee. Family and friends of Frances may call from 7:00 – 9:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the American Cancer Society.

Frances was born October 18, 1927 in Kewanee, IL the daughter of Carl and Lucinda (Brody) Girkin. She was united in marriage to Warren William Skiles on August 9, 1947; he preceded her in death in 1999. Frances lived in Cambridge for 43 years. She was employed as a sales clerk for Boss Factory, Mode’day and retiring from Spurgeons. Frances supported her husband in the Izaak Walton League and Kewanee Gun Club; and her children in girl scouts, boy scouts, cub scouts, brownies and the Knights Drum and Bugle Corps.

Survivors include her children (and spouses) Linda (Kim) LeMatty, Columbus Junction, IA; Debra (Tony) Kares, Neponset, IL; Michael (Jackie) Skiles, Geneseo, IL; Cindy (Ron) Hacker, Ohio, IL; James (Marie) Skiles, Colona, IL; Kelly (Ken) Bergland, Walnut, IL; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one brother, Donald Girkin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, a sister and a grandson.
