-Edna Hutchison-

Edna Hutchison, age 91, of Columbus Junction, Iowa, was promoted to glory Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Colonial Manor Care Center. Funeral services for Edna were Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 11:00 am at the Victory Christian Center. Pastor Michael McAfee officiated. Casket bearers were Ritch Mumm, Todd Mumm, Leland Hutchison, Jr., Robert Hutchison, Jim Ingersoll, Ryan Gusta, Doug Wilson and Fred (Allen) Nichols. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery. Following the committal service there was a time of food and fellowship at the church. Visitation was held on Saturday, September 27th from 9:00-11:00 am just prior to the services at the Victory Christian Center, 122 9th Street, Columbus Junction. Arrangements are in the care of the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Edna’s name. Edna Mae Staton was born February 11, 1917, in Buchanan County, Iowa, the daughter of Henry David and Clara Mae (Long) Staton. On February 6, 1943, Edna was united in marriage with Burl R. Hutchison in Springfield, MO. Edna was a homemaker and past member of the Marion Avenue Baptist Church and the Jolly Sixties Club of Washington, IA. She recently was attending the Victory Christian Center of Columbus Junction. Edna enjoyed being outdoors, working and cooking and always thinking of others and what she could do for them. She was very active in her spiritual life as a woman of prayer faithfully reading her Bible. The love of her life was her companion husband, Burl, her children and grandchildren and caring for all of them.

Edna will be dearly missed by her children, Burl R. (Russ) Hutchison and his wife, Nancy of Statesville, NC, Anita M. Ingersoll and her husband, Jim of Fredonia and Leland H. Hutchison, Sr. and his wife, Connie of Cedar Rapids; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Harlan Staton of Center Point, IA; her sister, Audrey Brandl and husband, Bob of Medinah, IL; her brother-in-law, Paul Coyle of Vinton, IA; and her sister-in-law, Jewel Storlie of Independence, Iowa.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 5 sisters, Helen, Ruth, Neva, Bernice and Elva; and 5 brothers, Melvin, George, Burl, Joseph and Lawrence.
